A long overdue update, but progress was a few hours here and there over the last few months. The last month in particular however, has been a different story with lots of long hours put in at Granby Motorsport HQ!
The biggest job on the To Do list was getting the engine assembled and running. Paul Hickey (Hickey Race Engineering) was on hand to oversee the build and installation, and we started the car up for the first time in 2 and a half years!
A lot of other little jobs have been completed over the last few weeks also; fitting towing eyes, oil catch tank, fuel tanks, exhaust and tidy wiring install by Damien McAuley. Final jobs now are suspension set up and rolling road tune, along with a few small cosmetic tasks.
The plan was to make Classic Car Live at Mondello Park on June 16th the first outing for the car, but with the announcement from Mondello that a special celebration would be held on June 9th to commemorate a Mini winning the first race there almost 45 years ago, we pushed to get the car ready for what would be a very fitting occasion.
Despite missing out on the parade laps around the circuit (not paying attention to P.A announcements!), a great day was had and I received a lot of nice compliments about the car that made up for it!
Will get some more detailed photographs up soon but these will have to do for now!
