Thanks to some detective work and late nights in the garage, the Mk1 now has its 1480 back together and is ready to hit the track! In fact, it already did hit the track at Classic Live at Mondello at the end of June.
After a rolling road tune at Westward Engineering, the car was flying. Unfortunately a fuel issue prevented us from finishing the track sessions, but spirits were still high as the engine has buckets of power and drove very impressively thanks to, as always, Paul Hickey of Hickey Race Engineering.
The next phase is to get the car out for as much testing and development as possible so it’s ready for next season.
We also showed the car at Terenure Classic Car and Motorcycle Show, Ireland’s biggest classic car show, where it received huge interest among other race cars such as Eddie Jordan’s first ever race car – a Crossle Formula Ford.
